5LD includes a family owned farm that has historically been used as a cattle farm and for raising of cereal grains. In light of the potential disaster of global
warming, it is now our desire to do something to contribute to a potential solution. Accordingly, we have planted 42,000 trees in January, 2008 to go along with the earlier planting of 150,000 that are two, three and four year old trees. Of particular concern to us at 5LD is the recent revelation that the excess of CO2
in the atmosphere is likely to increase the acidity of the oceans thereby altering if not destroying that precious ecosystem. The owners of 5LD are 45 year residents of Florida and avid salt water enthusiasts, and would like to be in some way responsible of preserving that resource for generations’ in the future. Our oceans are important to everyone.
It is our hope that we can sell the carbon credits produced by these trees planted on the family farm to offset expenses and also provide some way to further provide solutions to benefit the future of our beautiful country and oceans. The trees are
expected to mature in 20 years. We expect to sell offsets at a rate of $1.00 per tree per year, and the buyer will receive a certificate and have their names posted on the property where the offsets are located.
